The Himalayan forest is a prime habitat of some spectacular endemic species. In West Bengal , we can see a vast patch of such alpine forest. This zone is not only inhabited by some photogenic reptiles but also this is a prime zone for some beautiful amphibians and arthropods.

We, Canopy Voyagers, will explore the beautiful hill forest to photograph those rare and beautiful species and try to learn more about them. Join us to get a glimpse of this raw expedition and learn the ethics of macro photography

Our skipper and photography mentor for this trip have almost 5 years of experience of photographing various rare species in North Bengal. Join with us to have a magical experience in one of the most biodiverse hotspot in India and also in the World.

Our mentor would guide you throughout the expedition to understand the various techniques and methods of photographing wildlife, different animal behavior and the correct way of approaching them to get better perspective images, and the ethics of Wildlife Photography.

Himalayan Salamander, Pope’s pit viper, Green cat snake, Tawny cat snake, Mountain pit viper, Salazar’s pit viper, Tokay gecko, Nepal flying frog, McClelland’s coral snake, Himalayan keelback, Megophrys sp. etc

Day1: After your arrival at  NJP railway station , you will be boarded on train to reach the nearest railway station of our first camp. Its a 4 hour long journey along with an hour trek to reach our first site. Our Photography and biodiversity expert would guide you through the entire plan for the Trip. After the room allotment process, freshen up and join the camp briefing over a cup of hot coffee. After a short discussion on the possible target species of the region and a few tips and tricks on Macro photography, enjoy a delicious lunch at the camp site. You must keep your camera ready with you anytime for possible sightings within the campsite. Take some rest and join the trail around the campsite in the evening.

Day2 & Day3: The day begins with a hot cup of tea or coffee.  Spend the whole day looking for some diurnal species . Learn the various techniques of macro photography from our expert on field. We will carry packed breakfast with us on the trail. In evening we will start our most exciting night trail in search of Pope’s pit viper, various cat snakes, snail eaters and geckos

Day4: We will leave our first campsite early morning after breakfast and will reach to our second campsite at around 3-4 PM. We will have our lunch and start exploring the region for salamanders and mountain pit viper. This trail can take a long hours till we find our prime target the Himalayan salamander . After the night trail, we will have our dinners and lights off.

Day5: The day starts with a early morning trail to find the Salamanders. Photograph the beautiful species with a minimum distance as we are not allowed to disturb the natural habitat and the species. Post trail, we will have our breakfast and leave the camp with good memories and scenic photographs

Macro lenses preferably 90mm along with telephoto lens like 150-600mm or 100-400mm

Camera flash with diffuser

Rain cover for Camera

Headlight or Torch

Extra camera batteries and memory cards

Binoculars if possible

Waterproof jacket or Poncho

Sunscreen lotions

Mosquito repellent cream

Basic first aid

Forest-friendly clothing, leech socks and Gum boots (Must need)

COST ON REQUEST. 25% of the amount needs to be paid as booking fee (non-refundable). Balance 75% to be paid 30 days prior to departure date.

Please Note: We are flexible to customize the tour as per your needs, if the group size is large. In that case the cost would be shared based on your requirement.

Accommodation for 4N 5D days in different Eco homestays at North Bengal

All food (Day 1 lunch – Day 5 Breakfast) for 5 days

All transfers to and from New Jalpaiguri RLS

All cancellation requests must be sent through email to info@thecanopyvoyagers.com. The refund policy mentioned below will be applicable to amount outside of the 25% booking amount.

All cancellations before 30 days from departure date: 100% refund

All cancellations between 25 – 30 days from departure date: 75% refund

All cancellations between 20 – 25 days from departure date: 50% refund

All cancellations within 20 days from departure date: No refund can be made. We are sorry!

No refund will be granted for portion/portions of the journey not performed by the traveler.

No refund will be granted in case of non-performance of journey due to external and natural events.
